Who is Hayley Orrantia?
Born Sarah Hayley Orrantia on the 21st February 1994, in Arlington, Texas USA, she is an actress, singer, and songwriter, perhaps best known to the world as Erica Goldberg in the TV comedy series “The Goldbergs”, starring next to Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone and Troy Gentile. Hayley was also her namesake in the TV series “Roommates” in 2016.
Early Life, Family, and Education
Of Mexican, English, and French ancestry, Hayley is the only child born to Melody and Dan Orrantia. She grew up in Highland Village and Grand Prairie, and went to Marcus High School located in Flower Mound, but following her junior year, Hayley decided for home-schooling, as she became more focused on singing and acting lessons. During her high school years Hayley got her first taste of acting, when she joined a musical theatre program.
Career Beginnings
Hayley made her acting debut in 2011 as Penny in the family film “Cooper and the Castle Hills Gang”, starring alongside Kyle Kirk and J.B. Edwards. After her initial role, Hayley focused more on singing, but returned to the screen with the part of Erica Goldberg in the TV comedy series “The Goldbergs” (2013-2018), which has become the hallmark of her acting career.
In 2015, Hayley portrayed Joan of Arc in the short film “Maid”, while the following year she was Hayley in the TV comedy series “Roommates”, with Caleb Pierce Cooper Green and Austin James as the stars of the series. The same year, Hayley starred in the drama film “God’s Not Dead 2”, next to Melissa Joan Hart, Jesse Metcalfe and David A.R. White.
X Factor Career
Aside from acting, Hayley has always been interested in music and songwriting as well; in 2011 she auditioned for the music talent show “X Factor”, and was selected from a YouTube video submission, the judges giving her four “yes” votes during the live audition phase in Seattle, Washington. She went solo in the first few appearances, but as the show progressed she was put into a band alongside three other female singers. She reached fifth week of the live shows, when she and her three colleagues were eliminated. Since then, she has been solely focused on her acting career.

Hayley, aside from acting and singing, finds time to give to the community; she has contributed to the National Eating Disorders Association and the Girl Scouts of America, with songs “Who I Am”, and “Power of a Girl”, while she is also a supporter of such charity organization as Stand Up to Cancer, Susan G. Komen, and Lungevity, among others. To speak further of her endeavors, Hayley is an ambassador for the Texas Music Project, which raises awareness of and funds for music education in public schools.
Car Accident
Back in 2013, Hayley was involved in a car crash when she ran a red light and struck Ryan Houghton’s car directly, which sent him into the intensive care unit;. According to the investigation, the young star was checking her ‘phone when the accident happened.
