The Riches of Angell Conwell

How rich is Angell Conwell? As of late-2018, sources estimate a net worth that is at $2 million, earned through a successful career in acting. She’s been nominated several times thanks to her performances, and has also appeared in music videos. As she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

While Angell was born in Orangeburg, her family moved to Columbia, South Carolina when she was two years old, where she would grow up with her younger sister. In school, she was the first African-American student body president of Seven Oaks Elementary School. After matriculating from high school, she then moved to Brooklyn, New York in hopes of finding a career in acting. One of the reasons that Angell got a quick start in the acting industry is thanks to her mother who is a talent agent. She discovered her passion for acting when in a school play at six years of age, drawing a standing ovation for her performance. This then led her to move to Los Angeles, California, after she was cast in the television pilot of “On Our Own”, but which was not picked up.

Despite that, she had guest roles in television shows including “NYPD Blue”, “The Parkers”, and “Renegade”. In 2001, her popularity started increasing as she was cast in the film “Baby Boy”, in which she played the role of Kim, in the coming of age story of mechanic Jody Summers as he goes through everyday life in Los Angeles. It starred Tyrese Gibson, although originally set to star Tupac Shakur before his death in 1996.

Career Prominence

In the next few years, Conwell would appear in episodes of “That’s So Raven” and “One on One” as a guest. She was then cast in her next film entitled “Soul Plane”, playing the role of Tamika in the comedy film which starred Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart, and featured actors such as Sofia Vergara and Mo’Nique. She also appeared in several music videos before working in two straight to DVD films in “Rhythm City Volume One: Caught Up”, a mini-movie by Usher following his recording of the single “Confessions”, which broke the record for an R&B debut.

She was also cast in “Half Past Dead 2”, an action film starring Bill Goldberg which is a sequel to “Half Past Dead” and starring Steven Seagal. In the next few years, Conwell would work on numerous films, mainly in the independent circuit. She made a few feature films including “Love For Sale”, which is a romantic comedy starring Jackie Long and Jason Weaver. She also had a small role in the 2009 horror comedy film entitled “Frankenhood”, which starred DeRay Davis, Jasper Redd, and Bob Sapp.

The Young and the Restless

In 2010, Angell was cast in the daytime soap opera “The Young and the Restless” in the recurring role of attorney Leslie Michaelson. The show is set in Genoa City, a fictional town unrelated to the same named city in Wisconsin. It originally focused on two core families, but later started introducing other families to its storyline. It has won numerous Emmy Awards throughout its entire run, with its current contract set to air until 2020. Two years after having a recurring role in the show, she was dropped to a contract, before returning to a recurring role a few months later, however, her character quietly left the show after four years. During this time, she had another television project entitled “Family Time”, a comedy series in which she starred alongside Omar Godding, about a working class family that won a lottery ticket. The show aired for six episodes, before she returned to “The Young and the Restless” to reprise her role as Leslie for four more episodes. For her performances in the series, she was nominated twice for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Series. One of her latest projects is the television program “Merry Ex-Mass”.
