In 2008, he appeared in the opening of the show “Desperate Housewives”, then in a couple of episodes of “24”. During this time, he was began appearing in films too, such as “Sex and Death 101”, and then “Georgia Rule” which starred Lindsay Lohan and Jane Fonda, and for which he won a Young Artist Award thanks to his portrayal of the character Ethan. He also appeared in “The Brothers Bloom” and “National Treasure: Book of Secrets”, starring alongside Nicolas Cage.

In 2010, he got his most notable role in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”, which is based on Jeff Kinney’s book of the same name, and also had appearances from Steve Zahn and Chloe Grace Moretz. The first film had a lot of success, earning $75.7 million on a $15 million budget, and would lead to three other “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” films; he reprised his role the following year in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules”, and in 2012 in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days”. However, during the 2017 film “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul”, he was replaced by Jason Drucker.

Later Work


In 2013, Zachary hosted the Nintendo miniseries entitled “Skylander’s Boomcast”, released through the YouTube channel “SkylandersGame”, talking about the Activision video game “Skylandes” in which toys come to life. He also appeared in the film “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” in the role of Pete Kidder and alongside Steve Carell. In recent years, Zachary has focused a lot on voice acting work, including Young Ravus in “Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV”. And in “Yellowbird”, “Norm of the North”, and “The Gettysburg Address”. He also lent his voice to an episode of “Uncle Grandpa”.

He continues to take recurring roles, and make guest appearances in several television series, including a three episode role in the Tim Allen series “Last Man Standing”, and a recurring role in the supernatural horror series “Dead of Summer”, set in the 1980s.
