Education and Acting Beginnings

Scott attended Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, Florida, where he also played for the school’s football team as a wide receiver. After matriculating in 1997, he enrolled in the University of Central Florida, where he joined an a cappella voice group called “4:2:Five” in which he sang vocal percussion. He also took up baby-sitting jobs during his free time, to help support himself through college. In 2004, he was one of the original cast members in his first professional acting endeavor in the off-Broadway production of “Altar Boyz”, then had one of his first notable roles in “Friday Night Lights”, a series following the story of a high school football team in the fictional town of Dillon, Texas based on the 1990 non-fiction book written by H. G. Bissinger. Around the same time, he took a temporary role in the soap opera “As the World Turns” playing Casey Hughes, and also appeared in the film “Music and Lyrics” playing the character Colin Thompson, a member of the fictional band PoP!

In 2008, Porter joined the cast of the film “Speed Racer” in which he played Rex, before appearing in the remake of “Prom Night”.
