Who is Paul Teutul Sr.?

Born Paul John Teutul on the 1st May 1949, in Yonkers, New York City USA, he is a reality TV star and motorcycle manufacturer, but probably best known to the world for his appearances in the reality series “American Chopper: The Series” (2002-2010), and “Orange County Choppers” (2013-2014), among other differing accomplishments.

Early Life and Education

Though he obtained world fame, Paul has somehow managed to keep his background details hidden from the public eye, including the identity of his parents and his education. However, what is known about his early years is his love for motorcycles and speed. While watching films such as “Easy Rider” and “The Wild One”, Paul fell in love with the two wheels beasts, and started learning about them.

Vietnam War

During the Vietnam War, Paul wasn’t in the US military, but was a part of the US Merchant Marine and often sailed to and fro the war zone during the early 1970s.

Orange County Ironworks

Upon returning from the Vietnam War, Paul started Orange County Ironworks, which is a fabrication shop. After several years of successful management, Paul left the firm and started building motorcycles, firstly as a hobby but later turning it into a full-time profession. Now, Orange County Ironworks is in the ownership of Paul’s son, Daniel.

Orange County Choppers

As his love for motorcycle manufacturing turned into a full-time profession, Paul started another company, Orange County Choppers, in 1999. Teaming up with his older son, Paul Jr., the two became widely known throughout the US, and after three years of successful work, received a call from the Discovery Channel producers and were offered a show that would follow their daily operations. Soon afterwards, “American Chopper: The Series”, began airing in 2002.

“American Choppers: The Series”

The show followed the Teutul family business from 2003 to 2010; while on the show, he two Pauls fought often, which eventually resulted in Paul Jr. leaving both the business and the series. However, the series lasted for 70 episodes, from 2007 to 2010 airing on TLC. Despite – or perhaps because of – the disagreements between father and son, the show became rather popular and on account of series’ success, two video games were created – “American Chopper”, and “American Chopper 2: Full Throttle”. After his son left the original series, several other shows were created as spin-offs, including “American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior”, and “Orange County Choppers”, in which Paul Sr. also appeared, further increasing his net worth and popularity. In 2012 the series was terminated, and aside from a documentary special “Shaq Bike” aired in 2014, Paul hasn’t been seen on TV since.

An Accomplished Author

Paul has shared some of his most intimate details with the public in his book “Orange County Choppers: The Tale of the Teutuls” in 2006, while he also published another in 2009, entitled “The Ride of a Lifetime”. The sales of his books have also contributed to his net worth.

Have You Wondered How Rich Paul Teutul Sr. Is?

Since starting his own company, Paul has enjoyed all the benefits of a rich life, but once the series stopped airing, he began experiencing financial problems. His wealth is now estimated by authoritative sources at $1.8 million, however, his debt to creditors is assessed at more than $1 million, which saw him file for bankruptcy in early 2018. Regardless, Paul still possesses an extensive car and motorcycle collection, which includes several Corvettes valued at over $75,000 each. He also has a number of Oldsmobiles, and other classic cars and choppers.

Life Behind the Scene

When not working, Paul is a devoted husband and father; since 2007 he has been married to Beth Dillon. Previously, he was married to Paula Teutul with whom he has four children, Paul Jr., Michael, Christian, and Dan Teutul. Since leaving Orange County Choppers, Paul Jr. has started his own company, Paul Jr. Designs.

Social Media Presence

Since Paul made a little kingdom from his shop, he has managed to expand his influence to social media platforms, particularly on his own Twitter account, on which he has more than 55,000 followers, and has shared some details of his personal life with his most loyal fans, including his place for rest. He has also started the Orange County Choppers Twitter account, and since joining the community has gained a following of 111,000 people. He has also promoted his work, informing his fans about his latest projects and enterprises. He has an avid fan base on Facebook too, with more than 350,000 ‘likes’ on his official Facebook page. So, if you are not already a fan, then this is a great chance for you to start following the life and work of one of the most prominent motorcycle manufacturers.

Tattoos

Paul is recognized for his many tattoos; he has tattooed his arms, and chest, which has made him even more popular with public. Some of his most popular tattoos include portrait of his bullmastiff and OCC logo
