Career Beginnings

In 1984, instead of a summer camp Kerri decided to try herself as an actress; it was Steven Spielberg himself who noticed her when she auditioned for a part in “Goonies”, and she secured the role of Andy, a cheerleader turned adventurer. The film was a complete success, launching Kerri to Stardom.

Rising Star

Throughout the ‘80s, Kerri enjoyed success by starring in teenage films that turned out to be rather successful with the public. After the role of Andy Kerri she continued successfully with such leading roles as Jennifer Chester in “Summer Rental” the same year, and then as Maggie in the romantic comedy film “Lucas”, co-starring Corey Haim and Charlie Sheen. Kerri became rather popular with teenage girls, thanks to her portrayals of carefree-adventurous girls. However, the next film “Three for the Road” wasn’t welcomed like her other projects, and Kerri decided to focus more on her education, rather than becoming dependent on the success of films in which she appeared. She remained active as an actress until the mid- ‘90s, appearing in minor roles in such TV series as “In the Heat of the Night” (1990), “The Burden of Proof” in 1992, then “Mad About You” the same year, while in 1993 she portrayed Tori Pattersen in the television film “Tainted Blood”, starring next to Raquel Welch and Alley Mills.

Retirement and Other Projects

After graduating, Kerri focused on work behind the scenes, and has rarely appeared in films and TV series since then. Instead, she became a screenwriter and producer, starting her own filmmaking company, Independent Woman Artists. One film she financed was the drama “Bellyfruit”, released in 1999, starring Tamara LaSeon Bass, Tonatzin Mondragon and Kelly Vint Castro – she was also the writer and director of the film.
