Toriah Lachell
Toriah Lachell – who also goes by the name Toriah Mimms when promoting her professional ventures – was born in February 2000 in Missouri, USA, and is known for being the mother of basketball superstar Jayson Tatum’s son, Deuce.
Although Toriah and Jayson haven’t been together for quite some time, they’re still very much on close terms, with the professional hairstylist permanently relocating to Boston, Massachusetts, to ensure that the power forward can see his son whenever he wants. Regarding Toriah’s family, she’s believed to have grown up in a single-parent household with her mother Julie, although she does share a close relationship with her stepfather John Gibbs.
As many sports and celebrity gossip fans may be aware, Toriah showed early promise during her high school days and played two years of varsity softball and two years of junior varsity soccer. Her relationship with Jayson dates back to August 2014, so it’s likely that they bonded over their love of sports.
Although some sources claim that the former lovebirds both attended and met at Chaminede College Preparatory School, this is untrue: Toriah studied at McCluer North High School, and neither party has ever discussed how they got to know each other. Similarly, the exact date of their break-up is a mystery, but we know it took place shortly after Deuce’s birth on 6th December 2017.
You may be wondering how Toriah went from playing on varsity teams to being a licensed hairstylist, and the answer is the natural hair movement that became popular in the mid-2010s and encouraged thousands of girls and women to embrace their curls and stop using harmful chemical treatments such as relaxers. Having discovered her passion for haircare, Toriah later opened The Curl Bar, her own beauty salon in Boston which has been up and running since 2021.
For the time being, we’re unable to confirm Toriah’s current relationship status. The entrepreneur appears to be focused on her business and raising her son, thus leaving little time to rejoin the dating scene.
Jayson Tatum
National Basketball Association (NBA) player Jayson Christopher Tatum was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on 3rd March 1998. The power forward has been playing for the Boston Celtics since 2017, and boasts several accolades, such as an Olympics gold medal and an NBA Eastern Conference Finals Most Valuable Player award.
In May 2023, news outlets began reporting that Jayson would soon become eligible to sign a $318 million supermax contract extension. Netizens had mixed reactions, with one Twitter user saying: ‘Giving Jayson Tatum 318 million would be the worst contract in sports history.’ Meanwhile, NBA fans are eagerly awaiting the 2024 offseason, which is when Jayson will possibly be offered the lucrative contract.
Regarding Jayson’s personal life, he’s allegedly been in a relationship with Grammy-winning singer Ella Mai since October 2020. Although the athlete and the musician prefer to keep their romance under wraps, they’ve been photographed together at a number of events, such as businessman Michael Rubin’s annual 4th of July party in 2022, and basketball player Marcus Smart’s wedding in September 2023.
In May 2022, the power forward was also said to be dating Bella Harris, a model and influencer with thousands of Instagram followers. Bella was first spotted at one of Jayson’s games in December 2021, but it wasn’t until five months later that they were rumored to be a couple. In any case, Jayson unfollowed Bella in July 2022, the same month that he and Ella made their first public appearance.

Although we said earlier that Jayson and Toriah broke up sometime in early 2018, it appears that they rekindled things towards the end of the year – which the basketball player’s then-girlfriend, Samantha Amos, was less than thrilled about. In December 2018, Samantha blasted Jayson on social media and alluded that he’d left her for Toriah.
Samantha and Jayson first began dating in May 2018. The former Duke University volleyball player comes from a sports-oriented family, as her father, Bryan Amos was a college football star back in the 1980s. Samantha’s high school and college volleyball career was certainly impressive, but these days, she’s working as an associate marketing manager in the sports marketing division of New Balance.
Since the December 2018 incident, Jayson has made sure to steer clear of public controversy, which is easier said than done. When the former Celtics head coach, Ime Udoka, was disciplined by the team in September 2022 for engaging in an improper intimate relationship with a female staff member, Jayson spoke out in his defense, but later claimed that he had no prior knowledge of Ime’s scandalous affair.
‘I feel like everybody else. It’s a lot to process, unexpected,’ Jayson told reporters, adding that he found out about the head coach’s workplace indiscretions through social media.
Despite Ime eventually being replaced by Joe Mazzulla as permanent head coach, he remains in touch with Jayson, who described the disgraced former basketball player as his ‘all-time favorite’. Although the Celtics’ reputation took a serious hit in the aftermath of the affair – which was made all the more controversial due to Ime’s years-long relationship with Hollywood actress Nia Long – Jayson and the rest of his teammates managed to walk away relatively unscathed.
Deuce Tatum
As mentioned, Jayson “Deuce” Tatum Jr. was born in December 2017, when his parents were just 19 and 17 years old. The charismatic youngster is clearly the main priority in Jayson’s life, as he’s attended plenty of sports events and makes frequent appearances on the Boston Celtics Instagram profile.
Deuce has gone viral on many occasions thanks to his outgoing personality, and is especially close to many of his father’s peers, such as Marcus Smart – whom he famously tried to fight before a game in November 2022 – and Grant Williams. Despite being interested in basketball, he also loves dressing up, playing the drums, and singing karaoke. At just six years old, the honorary Celtics member even has his own fan pages, and is jokingly dubbed as the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time).
