Who is Luke Tennie?

American actor Luke Tennie was born under the zodiac sign Scorpio on 21 November 1994, in Los Angeles, California USA. He has 15 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for playing Sean in 10 episodes of the 2023 comedy series “Shrinking”, which stars Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams and Jason Segel, and was created by Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein. It follows a therapist who’s begun telling his clients exactly what’s on his mind; the series has won one of its 15 award nominations.

Luke’s currently shooting for three upcoming movies: “The Nickel Boys”, “Jade” and “O. T.”

Education and early life

Luke was raised in Los Angeles alongside his siblings Yeshy (brother) and Mikiala (sister), by their parents about whom not many details have been shared because Luke respects their privacy; his father’s believed to be a high school football coach, and his mother a nurse, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Luke studied at a local high school in Los Angeles and was perhaps mostly into playing football during his four years there; he had dreams of going professional, and led his team to the play-offs during his senior year, however, they lost in the first round. It was then that Luke began taking acting lessons, and started appearing in school plays.

He matriculated in 2012 and then enrolled at college, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2016.

Roles in movies

Luke’s debut film role was playing Tony in the 2016 short drama “20’s Love”, and the same year saw him star as Alan in the short comedy “Swipe Right”, which also starred Danny DiPeso, Eddie Teran and Ciara Windom, and was directed by Derek Mateo. It follows the lives of two people who are searching for love.

In 2017, Luke played Adam Green in the biographical historical drama “Shock and Awe”, which starred Rob Reiner, James Marsden and Woody Harrelson, and was directed by Rob Reiner; it follows a group of journalists as they’re covering President George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq. In 2018, Luke played one of the main characters Derrick Jackson in the crime horror “Thriller”, which also starred Mitchell Edwards and Jessica Allain, and was written and directed by Dallas Jackson. It follows a teenager who’s having his revenge on those who’ve pulled a prank on him.

Luke went on to star as Solomon in the 2020 biographical sports drama “Safety”, which also starred Thaddeus J. Mixson, Javien Jackson and Jay Reeves, and was directed by Reginald Hudlin. It follows the life of college Football Player Ray-Ray McElrathbey, and the film was nominated for two awards.

His only other film role has been playing Jamel in the 2022 short drama “We Were Meant To”.

Roles in TV series

Luke’s debut TV series role was playing Vic in the 2018 episode “The Day” of the crime drama “Snowfall”, which starred Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Carter Hudson and Damson Idris, and was created by John Singleton and Eric Amadio. It follows the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles in the ‘80s, the series aired from 2017 through 2023, and won seven of its 36 award nominations.

In 2018 and 2019, Luke portrayed Willie Lewis in 10 episodes of the action adventure comedy “Deadly Class”, which starred Lana Condor, Benjamin Wadsworth and Benedict Wong, and was created by Rick Remender and Miles Orion Feldsott. It follows a teenager as he’s attending a school for assassins, and the series was nominated for six awards.

The year 2021 saw Luke portray Fred in six episodes of the comedy “On the Verge”, which starred Julie Delpy, who also created the series; it follows the lives of four women and was nominated for two awards. In 2022, he played Rudy Elmore Jr. in nine episodes of the comedy “Players”, which starred Da’Jour Jones and Misha Brooks, and was created by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault – the series follows the lives of members of a “League of Legends” team.

Luke’s only other TV series role has been playing Bryan Roby in eight episodes of the crime action “CSI: Vegas” since 2021.

Other credits

Luke’s the writer and producer of the upcoming short movie “Jade”.

Some of his recent talk-show appearances have been in “Red Carpet Report”, “Inside the Crazy Ant Farm” and “The Man Cave Chronicles Podcast”.

Love life and marriage

Luke doesn’t shy away from sharing the details of his love life with his fans, and it’s widely known that he’s today married to Spanish actress Maria Romero; she studied at the prestigious Royal School of Dramatic Arts and has 11 acting credits, while she’s perhaps known best for playing Lidia Orsorio in three episodes of the 2022 crime action series “In From the Cold”.

Luke and Maria began dating in 2017 but it was only in 2019 that Luke revealed on his social media accounts that they were together; they exchanged vows in a small and private ceremony on 4 July 2021 in California, and don’t have children, as they want to focus on their careers.

There are no other women whom Luke’s been with, that we know about; he’s married to Maria Romero as of October 2023 and doesn’t have children.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Luke’s steadily building his Instagram fanbase, and is today followed by nearly 30,000 people on the network, while he’s posted close to 300 pictures and videos; most of his Instagram content’s about the movies and TV series in which he’s appeared.

He’s physically quite active, and goes to the gym at least thrice a week; Luke also enjoys playing basketball and tennis with his friends in his spare time.

He supports the movement Black Lives Matter, and has recently joined the SAG AFTRA strike.

Luke’s into travelling, and has been to many European countries and US states, for both work and pleasure.

One of his favorite actors is the late Chadwick Boseman, while some of his favorite movies are “Black Panther”, “21 Bridges” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”.
