The Recording Foundation’s 2023 Unique Legitimacy Grant beneficiaries are here!
In the week paving the way to the current year’s Grammy Grants on Feb. 5, the association will hold a service to introduce the 2023 Lifetime Accomplishment Grant, Legal administrators Grant, Specialized Grammy Grant and Best Melody for Social Change Grant — and among the beneficiaries are some music legends.

Nirvana, Smooth Rick (also known as “The Ruler”), The Supremes, Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson, Bobby McFerrin, Mama Rainey and Nile Rodgers will be regarded with the current year’s Lifetime Accomplishment Grants at the service, which will happen Feb. 4 at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles.
Moreover, music photographic artist Henry Diltz, jazz piano player and teacher Ellis Marsalis as well as Stax Records pioneer Jim Stewart will get the Legal administrators Grants.
