2023 Health: Mark Cuban Illness: Is He Sick Now?

There are no reports or indications of Mark Cuban suffering from any specific illness.

His involvement in addressing the exorbitant prices of a life-saving drug for Wilson disease demonstrates his commitment to healthcare accessibility.

Drew Katz, a Cherry Hill business executive with Wilson disease, faced a significant challenge when the cost of the essential medication he needed skyrocketed.

Collaborating with Cuban, who has experience in the intricacies of U.S. drug pricing, they took decisive action.

Together, they founded Cost Plus Drug Co., an online pharmacy, and partnered with generic drug manufacturer Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories to introduce a generic version of the vital medication at a remarkably low cost of $3.55 per pill.

An alternative treatment was also announced, priced at approximately $4.40 per pill.

Cost Plus Drug Co.’s unique approach involves bypassing most insurance plans, allowing them to sell medications well below the list prices of both name-brand equivalents and generic versions offered by others.

This strategy aims to provide substantial savings, particularly for those with high-deductible insurance plans or no insurance at all.

Launched in 2022 by Mark and co-founder Alexander Oshmyansky, a physician, Cost Plus Drug Co. is committed to transparency and affordability.

They pledge to mark up drug prices by no more than 15% from the wholesale price, with a flat $3 pharmacy fee and a $5 shipping fee.

As of now, Cuban’s health appears to be in good condition, and his involvement in the healthcare sector showcases his dedication to making life-saving medications more affordable and accessible to those in need.
