Out of four of their children, their son Barry decided to follow his father’s footsteps, becoming a worldwide known actor. Born on 31 July 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Barry most notably worked on projects such as “Diagnosis Murder”, “Remington Steele” and “Magnum, P.I.”.

Dick Van Dyke Career

Van Dyke made his acting debut in 1957, when he appeared in two episodes of “The Phil Silvers Show”, and followed by working on projects such as “True Story”, “The United States Steel Hour” and “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”. He continued working in support roles, and finally in 1964, he landed the role of Bert / Mr. Dawes Senior in “Mary Poppins”, working alongside actors such as Julie Andrews and David Tomlinson.

Continuing to work at a fast pace, in 1993 he joined the cast of the TV adaptation of “Diagnosis Murder” through 2001, and 178 episodes.

When it comes to Van Dyke’s most recent projects, those include “The Dick Van Dyke Show: Now in Living Color!”, “Buttons” and “Capture the Flag” and, as we can see, he’s seemingly not planning on retiring, as he’s still active in the entertainment field despite being in the 10th decade of his life.
