After passing for 2,543 yards and 27 touchdowns as a senior, Will has been voted the Maxwell Football Club Pennsylvania Player of the Year. In addition to sprinting for 512 yards and 21 touchdowns, Howard concluded his high school career with 5,308 throwing yards and 48 touchdown passes.

He completed 90 passes out of 168 attempts for 1,178 yards, eight touchdowns, and ten interceptions. He also carried for 364 yards and three scores. As a sophomore, he once again filled in as Thompson’s backup after battling for the starting position throughout practice. With three starts, He participated in six contests.
He started the Wildcats’ spring practices as their starting quarterback as a junior. Transfer Adrian Martinez reportedly wanted to redshirt the season before being selected as the starter moving into 2022.

Following Martinez’s injury against TCU, he took Martinez’s place, led the Wildcats on four consecutive touchdown drives, and started the next game against Oklahoma State.
Martinez was replaced by Howard after he sustained another injury versus Baylor, completing 19 of 27 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns. After it was discovered Martinez’s injury was significant, he was named Kansas State’s starting quarterback once again.
