Miller was born and raised in DeSoto, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. He attended DeSoto High School, where he played football and ran track.

He also grew up in a Christian household and was baptized at a young age. He said in an interview with Sports Illustrated in 2016 that his faith was “the foundation of everything” for him.

However, Miller also has some Jewish ancestry on his father’s side.

His paternal grandfather, Vonnie B’VSean Miller Sr., was Jewish, and his father, Vonnie B’VSean Miller Jr., converted to Judaism when he married Miller’s mother, Gloria.

Miller said in the same interview that he was proud of his Jewish heritage and celebrated Hanukkah and Passover with his family.

Miller also said that he was open to learning more about Judaism and that he had visited Israel in 2015 as part of a trip organized by America’s Voices in Israel, a program that brings celebrities and influencers to the country to experience its culture and history.

He said that he was impressed by the people and the places he saw and felt a connection to the land. “I felt at home there,” he said. “I felt like I was part of something bigger than myself.”

Miller has not officially declared himself as either Christian or Jewish, but rather as someone who respects and appreciates both religions.
