Emmanuel Lewis’ Early Life
Emmanuel was born on the 9th March 1971, in New York City’s borough of Brooklyn, and is the youngest of five children raised by a single mother, Margaret Lewis, as his parents separated when he was only two years old, and who served as a computer-science professional. He is of American nationality and of black ethnicity, while his zodiac sign is Pisces. Emmanuel went to Midwood High School from which he matriculated in 1989, then continued his education at Clark Atlanta University, from which he graduated in 1997, earning his degree in theater arts.
Career Beginnings
Despite not being diagnosed with any disorder, Emmanuel Lewis’ height is only 3 ft 6 inches, but he became involved in the world of acting by accident – one day he was jogging with a friend who suggested that his mother contact the Shuller Talent Agency. As soon the agents saw Emmanuel, they offered him a contract, and shortly afterwards he began appearing in various TV commercials and advertisements, actually over 50 commercials, in collaboration with brands such as Campbell’s Soup, Colgate, Burger King and Life Cereal, among plenty of others.
His real acting debut occurred when he appeared in the Papp New York Shakespeare Festival Production’s stegeplay “The Changeling Boy”.

In 1983 young Emmanuel was cast for the title role of Webster in the eponymous ABC’s sitcom. The show follows the life of a young African-American boy, Webster Long who, after his parents are killed in a car accident, is adopted by his wealthy godfather and his upper crust socialite wife. The series was aired between 1983 and 1989, during which Lewis appeared in all 150 episodes through the show’s six seasons. For his great performances, he was honored with four consecutive People’s Choice Awards for the Favorite Young TV performer, between 1984 and 1987. It is certain that this role is still one of the most recognizable and most memorable of Emmanuel Lewis’ acting engagements.

Career Highlights
Apart from “Webster”, Emmanuel Lewis has also added several other notable on-camera appearances to his professional acting portfolio – he also appeared in TV movies “A Christmas Dream” (1984), “Lost in London” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” both in 1985. During the 1990s, Lewis appeared in the 1995 TV movie “The New Adventures of Mother Goose”, and had also starred in the TV series “Family Matters” and “Moesha”. His last on-camera acting appearance occurred in 2007, when he played himself in the comedy movie “Kickin’ It Old School”.
