A$AP Rocky In Jail: Surveillance Video of Rapper Holding Firearm Shown in Court

On Wednesday, November 9, 2023, A$AP Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom for a preliminary hearing on his gun assault case.

The prosecution showed surveillance footage of the rapper holding a semi-automatic handgun and possibly firing at Ephron after a “heated discussion” in Hollywood, California.

The video, which was made public for the first time during the hearing, comes after the rapper pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault with a firearm in August 2022.

Ephron, who filed a civil suit for assault, battery and emotional distress against Rocky on August 10, 2022, claimed bullet fragments struck him after the argument and said in court that he sought necessary medical attention at a hospital in New York City.

A photo of Ephron’s minor injuries displayed in the courtroom showed small patches of raw, bloody skin on the knuckles of his index, middle and ring fingers on his left hand.

Ephron testified that he and Rocky were childhood friends and went to high school together in New York. He said that their relationship soured when Rocky found solo success and became “big-headed”.

He also alleged that Rocky failed to help financially with the funeral of their friend and Mob member A$AP Josh, who died in October 2021.

Rocky’s defense attorney, Joseph Tacopina, denied all claims and said that Rocky did pay for Josh’s funeral in full.

He also argued that the video did not show Rocky firing at Ephron but instead pointing the gun away from him.

He suggested that Ephron was lying about his injuries and that he was motivated by jealousy and greed.

Rihanna’s Boyfriend A$AP Rocky Appears in Court on Gun Charges

Rocky’s legal troubles come at a time when he is enjoying fatherhood with his partner Rihanna, 35.

The couple, who have been dating since 2019, have two sons – RZA, 18 months, and Riot Rose, three months. They welcomed their second child in August this year.

Rocky was arrested at LAX airport in April 2022 when returning from a trip to Barbados with Rihanna, who was then pregnant with their first son.

Police took him into custody at the airport, and Rocky’s lawyer, Alan Jackson, confirmed that the arrest was in relation to the shooting in November 2021.

Rocky covered up as he arrived at court on Wednesday, wearing both dark sunglasses and a face mask.

Dressed in a dark suit and white shirt, he looked subdued and downcast while in court, but after the hearing, he appeared to perk up and was snapped chatting to fans and signing autographs outside the building.

Rocky is expected to stand trial next year. If convicted, he could face up to eight years in prison.
