Early Life and Education

The daughter of Tony Guilfoyle and his wife Mercedes, Kimberly is of Puerto Rican ancestry from her mother’s side, and Irish from her father, Kimberly spent her early childhood in the Mission District and Westlake, where she went to Mercy High School. On her way to her teenage years, Kimberly lost her mother to leukemia, and during one of the interviews conducted in Kimberly’s later life, she spoke of her with love and respect. She matriculated from Mercy High School and then enrolled at the University of California, Davis, from which she graduated magna cum laude, while she obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1994. During her time in law school, Kimberly already started to become familiar with attorney work, as she interned at the San Francisco district attorney’s office. However, also to support her studies, Kimberly tried herself as a model, primarily for Macy’s, while also for some bridal magazines.

After she obtained her J.D. degree, Kimberly spent several years in Dublin, Ireland studying at Trinity College, during which she published a research paper on the topic of international rights and European Economic Community law.

Law Career Beginnings

She found a place for herself as a prosecutor in San Francisco in 1995, but unfortunately with the arrival of Terence Hallinan as the District Attorney, Kimberly was the one of fourteen prosecutors fired. That didn’t distract her as Kimberly joined Los Angeles attorneys as a Deputy District Attorney; she was immediately thrown into fire with kidnappers, robbers, arsonists, and sex offenders, but she paved her way and became one of the best attorneys, earning the Prosecutor of the Month award.

Rise to Fame

Following her quite successful years in Los Angeles, she was rehired by Hallinan and this time she was given the position of an Assistant District Attorney, which she held for the next four years, and in 2002 she came to prominence after successfully prosecuting in the trial against Noel and Knoller for second degree murder. Helped by James Hammer, the two were headliners in a number of online publications, including the New York Times.

Television Career

After the successful trial, Kimberly left her post and moved to New York, invited by Court TV and given her own show “Both Sides”, while also serving as a legal analyst on “Anderson Cooper 360°”. Kimberly moved forward with big steps, and in 2006 joined Fox News, initially hired as the host of the weekend show “The Lineup”, however, the show was cancelled but she remained on the network, serving as a regular contributor, and to be picked up as a co-host of the popular show “The Five”, alongside Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Juan Williams. Gradually, her role on Fox News increased, and as a result she has featured in a number of popular shows, including “Outnumbered” as a co-host, then “The O’Reilly Factor”, commentating in the segment “Is it Legal”, and serving as guest host for “Hannity”, “Justice with Judge Jeanine”, “Fox and Friends”, and “On The Record”. Moreover, she signed a multi-year deal with Fox in June 2017.

Before she signed her new contract with Fox, she was contacted by a White House representative to join Trump’s administration, however, she decided not to return to a law career, and chose to continue with Fox News.
