Man has been charged over the Mandurah boating accident that killed Deborah Burdon and Kylie Bazzo.
In connection with the deaths of his wife and another woman who perished in a boat accident south of Perth, a 47-year-old man has been charged.
Two counts of manslaughter have been brought against the captain of the boat, who was allegedly in control when it collided with a navigational marker in the Mandurah estuary, killing the two women on board.
On Monday afternoon, Burdon appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court and was given bail. During the brief hearing, he was using crutches, and doctors still treated the injuries he suffered in the boat crash.
Deborah Burdon And Kylie Bazzo Dead In Mandurah Boat Crash
On the evening of January 21, a boat carrying four people slammed into a red channel marker in the Mandurah Estuary. Rhett Bazzo’s mother, 52-year-old Kylie Bazzo, and 54-year-old Debbie Burdon died in the collision.

Following the boat crash, there was an outpouring of support from the local community, with many people sending their condolences to the families of the women who perished.
Ms. Bazzo, whose body was discovered by water Police in the estuary the following evening, was regarded as a pioneer for female football players.

In connection with the incident on January 23, when a boat he is alleged to have been in collided with a red channel marker on the Mandurah Estuary, WA, Police have charged John Phillip Burdon with two counts of manslaughter.
As he recovers from injuries sustained in the collision, Mr. Burdon, 47, appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Monday while using a crutch to support himself.

Police admitted in court that Mr. Burdon had been convicted of drunk driving in 2019 but did not object to bail.

John Phillip Burdon had to give up his passport, was released on a $100,000 surety and $100,000 personal undertaking, and is now scheduled to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on February 22.
