On July 2, 2010, sixteen IT teams raided Bangaru Adigalar’s four residences and trust offices in Melmaruvathur and his Adhiparasakthi chain of educational institutions. 

On July 2, the search began at 11.30 a.m. and lasted until 4 a.m. Cash worth ₹9 crore—which would be worth ₹20 crore or US$2.5 million in 2023—was seized from Adigalar’s home alone. 

His son Anbazhagan’s house was raided and ₹40 lakh (equivalent to ₹90 lakh or US$110,000 in 2023) was seized. 

A search of the trust offices turned up an extra ₹ three crore (equivalent to ₹6.7 crore or US$840,000 in 2023). Furthermore, gold jewelry was also found on the premises.
