Ryan Mutombo is a college basketball player and currently plays for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as a center. 

He previously played at Georgetown but opted to transfer to Georgia Tech for his final season after graduating early.

Born on June 28, 2003, in Atlanta, GA, Ryan is one of his parents’ three children. He is currently 21-year-old.

After completing high school, Mutombo began his collegiate basketball journey at Georgetown University. There he played for three seasons from 2021 to 2024.

Ryan Mutombo grew up with his parents, Dikembe and Rose Mutombo. Sadly, he lost his father on September 30, 2024. Dikembe passed away at 58 years old.

To be exact, Ryan’s dad Dikembe, fought brain cancer. He passed away on Monday from complications.

After his father’s demise, Ryan expressed deep admiration and love for him. He also took to social media to pay tribute to him.

The former Georgetown center left a long, heartfelt message and mentioned, 

“My dad will forever be my hero.”

Talking about Dikembe, he was a Congolese-American professional basketball player. People knew him for his outstanding defense and ability to block shots.

Dikembe was born on June 25, 1966, and played in the NBA for 18 seasons. During his time in the league, the former NBA star played for several teams, including the Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Similarly, Ryan’s father was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was honored with that title in 2015.

Likewise, Dikembe was known for his significant humanitarian efforts, particularly in his home country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Ryan’s mother has built a career as a lawyer and is also a politician. She has made important contributions in both areas, showing her dedication to public service and legal work.

When it comes to Ryan’s parents’ marriage, Dikembe and Rose got married in 1996. They lived a blissful life together. What’s more, the couple raised seven children together. 

As previously noted, Ryan’s parents welcomed three biological children: Jean Jacques, Carrie, and Ryan himself.

However, they later expanded their family by adopting another four children, bringing their total to seven kids.

The four kids Ryan’s parents adopted are their nieces and nephews. In other words, they are Rose’s deceased brothers’ children.

Although Dikembe and Rose enjoyed a happy married life, they faced some challenges before their wedding.

To be specific, Ryan’s parents faced issues over the pre-nuptial agreement. Dikembe wanted Rose to sign the agreement before they made things official.

Ryan’s mother was initially hesitant to sign the prenuptial agreement, which led the late NBA star to call off their wedding.

However, after some time, Rose changed her mind and agreed to sign it without any reluctance.
