Zohran Mamdani Said He Was Black on Columbia University Application

I came across this video clip today. It was filmed back in February at a protest in New York. It features a line of police officers being berated by a shouting woman protester. Some of the police are Muslims, or at least have names that suggest they might be Muslims. The woman is calling them out by name saying “We read the badges of the pigs!” She points to one officer in particular and shouts “To the Raffids!…To the pigs who can call themselves by the name of Islam!” Then she adds, “To the Muhammeds! Put some respect on that name!”

Well, no. Putting “some respect on that name” is part of your religion not mine and certainly not the job of the police when they are on duty.

Anyway, this old clip is getting some renewed attention this week because the woman shouting at the police is named Hadeeqa Arzoo Malik and, of course, she’s a former intern who worked for the Zohran Mamdani campaign.

Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani‘s ex-intern berated a Muslim police officer at a pro-Palestinian protest, according to a recently resurfaced video.

City College student Hadeeqa Arzoo Malik — who interned for Mamdani prior to his mayoral campaign — verbally attacked an officer over his career choice at what appears to be a pro-Palestine demonstration on the CUNY school’s campus, the video, originally posted on Feb. 28…

Malik worked in Mamdani’s Assembly district office as a communications, outreach, policy and constituent services intern during the Summer of 2024, according to her LinkedIn.

Mamdani co-founded his alma mater Bowdoin College’s SJP chapter.

Before the internship she was heavily involved in the campus protests at her school and at Columbia. It’s a safe bet this is how she got the internship with Mamdani.

As of September 2024, Malik’s LinkedIn profile said she was the president of the anti-Israel campus group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at The City College of New York (CCNY) since June 2024. Her LinkedIn also said she was the group’s vice president from May 2023 to May 2024 and the group’s treasurer from January 2023 to May 2023…

On April 21, 2024, Malik was featured [slide 1] in a video posted on Instagram, participating in the Columbia encampment. The video was captioned: “The brave students of Columbia University are occupying the campus in solidarity with the people of Gaza. 🇵🇸 They have been going strong throughout the week!” In the video, Malik chanted [00:00:01]: “Columbia, you can’t hide, you get rich off genocide!”

Anyway, here she is smiling with Mamdani last summer. There’s another photo of her sitting in his campaign office.

Needless to say if Mamdani was a controversial conservative and his former intern was on video berating police officers in the city he hopes to become mayor of, someone in the media would ask him how he felt about that. As it is, the NY Post is the only outlet that asked and, not surprisingly, Mamdani had nothing to say.

Mamdani and Malik did not immediately respond to The Post’s requests for comment.

No doubt Mamdani supports Hadeeqa Arzoo Malik 100%, but he also knows it might not be a good thing for his campaign to say so. So he’ll just count on the progressive media in NYC to give him a pass. You can’t blame him really since that strategy seems to be working pretty well for him so far.
