The discovery of a young woman’s body on a bushland track has led to the arrests of two men in Ballarat just months after the community was rocked by the disappearance of a mother.

The body of the 23-yar-old woman from Clunes, about 35km north of Ballarat, was discovered near State Forests Rd in Scarsdale, south of Ballarat, on Friday.

It is not yet known who found her body or when.

Victoria Police have since arrested two men, aged 21 and 22, from Sebastopol, south Ballarat.

They are assisting police with enquiries and investigations are ongoing. No charges have been laid.

It’s the latest tragedy to rock Ballarat following the alleged murder of Samantha Murphy.

Police arrested the mother’s alleged murderer, 22-year-old Patrick Stephenson, last month but have seemingly made little progress in the search for her remains.

The Ballarat community was left shaken after Ms Murphy disappeared while on a morning jog on February 4.
