A homicide investigation has been launched after the suspicious death of a man. 

The man’s body was found inside a property on Simla Street in Mitcham, in east Melbourne, at about 5.45pm on Thursday. 

A paramedic was allegedly assaulted by a 27-year-old woman at the home when they arrived on the scene.

Police then arrested the woman, from Ashwood in city’s southeast. 

She remains in hospital under police guard and is yet to be interviewed.

The death of the man, who is yet to be identified, is being treated as suspicious.

The exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
