‘Young Sheldon’ Star Raegan Revord Details PTSD After Being Hit by a Drunk Driver: “I Had Full Blown Panic Attacks”

Raegan Revord, the actress best known for playing Missy Cooper in Young Sheldon, revealed that she suffered PTSD after being involved in a traumatic car crash on her way to work one day.

The 15-year-old actress took to Instagram, where she told her followers that she and her mother were T-boned by a drunk driver while she was on her way to film the show’s latest episode.

“The irony here is I’m pretty much in a car for this entire episode, but you know what they say, ‘you gotta get back on the saddle,’” she said. “And that’s not to say it wasn’t difficult.”

Revord continued, “I had full blown panic attacks and PTSD for weeks after the accident and the only way I was able to get through it was because of the most loving and supporting cast and crew.”

She went on to praise her co-workers, who “checked in” on her and never made her “feel like finishing filming was a priority,” noting that her “well-being came first.”

Revord further explained her panic attacks to Entertainment Tonight when she said, “There were some moments where there would be like a crashing sound in the back or something and I’d be, like, [gasps].”

The actress also recalled “sobbing [her] heart out” in her trailer, but gave a shout-out to her costar McKenna Grace for helping her get through the “traumatizing” experience.

Elsewhere in the interview, she detailed another “full-on panic attack” she had when she had to get in the car to go home after she wrapped filming one night.

“I was sobbing. I didn’t want to. I was literally on the phone with my dad begging him to come pick me up,” she remembered. “He has a huge, apocalyptic-looking truck that I feel is indestructible. And I was like, ‘Please, you have to come pick me up. I cannot go home.’”

Revord — who revealed that she lost her hearing for “five minutes” and hurt her foot as the car filled with smoke — said she normally listens to music or reads a book while driving in a car. However, her entire perspective has changed since the accident.

“I’ll kinda just zone out, but now, I’ll still listen to music but I focus on every car that’s around,” she said. “I’m starting to tell my mom, ‘Look out for that car.’ I’m just being very aware now.”

She added, “If, like, a car happens to start to pull out of a driveway or something, your heart starts to race. You kind of grab your seat, like, ‘What’s gonna happen? Is the car gonna stop?’ [The accident] definitely impacts [you].”
