Emergency services were called to Davies Road in Padstow about 10.40pm yesterday after an 18-year-old man was critically injured by a ute.

Passing motorists stopped to administer CPR before paramedics arrived, however he died at the scene.

Police allege the driver of the ute failed to stop at a red light.

Officers arrested the 26-year-old man and he was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.

He was then charged with four offences, including dangerous driving occasioning death and not stopping at a red light.

The charged man, from Illawong, was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
