A father and young son died in a horror two-car crash on Australia Day.
A blue Holden Commodore and red Mitsubishi Lancer collided in Ransome, east Brisbane, at the intersection between Rickertt Rd and Chelsea Rd shortly before 9am.
The driver of the blue Holden, 37-year-old Chris Vrbesic from Manly West, died at the scene.
His four-year-old son, who was a passenger in the Holden, was rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital where he died from his injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi, a 29-year-old Birkdale man, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash, including whether speed was a factor in the collision.
A friend of the father visited the scene on Sunday afternoon to pay respects.
‘The guy was a family man, he helped so many people, he had such a big f**king heart,’ they told the Courier Mail.

Photos from the scene showed the blue Holden completely destroyed while the red Mitsubishi suffered damage to its front.
Its understood the cars T-boned at the intersection.
Mr Vrbesic was a project manager for his company Innate Developments which specialises in residential and commercial construction.
Witnesses recalled seeing emergency services performing CPR on Mr Vrbesic and his son being pulled from the wreckage.
Another said it was the first fatal crash she’d seen at the intersection in over 30 years.
Forensic Crash Unit investigators appealed for any witnesses, or anyone with relevant vision to contact police.
