Paramount unveiled the first official teaser for Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 — and it looks like it’s shaping up to be an explosive season finale.
The trailer kicks off with a glimpse of Kevin Costner‘s character, patriarch John Dutton. It remains unclear how much Costner will appear in the new season when it premieres as the actor backed out of the show before production resumed this year.
“Legacy,” he says in the trailer. “You build something worth having, someone’s gonna try and take it.”
It later shows Wes Bentley‘s Jamie Dutton, seemingly shredding evidence in his office during an FBI raid. “You destroy me, you destroy yourself,” he threatens over the phone.
However, the trailer’s focus on Kelly Reilly teases what’s next for the Yellowstone anti-hero amid recent news that the series could continue with Reilly and Cole Hauser as its new leads.
“I’m like you, I keep my promises,” she says.
Season 5, Part 2, was intended to be the series finale after Costner exited the series earlier this year. But the key art calling this new installment “the epic return” seemingly suggests there’s more in store for the series.
The epic Western will finally return this fall with new episodes after almost two years off the air.
But the Yellowstone universe has only continued growing in that time. Paramount recently greenlit a new contemporary spinoff series titled The Madison starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, and Matthew Fox.
The series, which is now one of several spinoffs from series creator Taylor Sheridan, has been described to be “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”
For those hoping to catch up on the drama ahead of the season finale, Paramount Network will be airing a Yellowstone marathon starting Friday, Aug 30 at 10/9c.
Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 premieres on Paramount Network Nov. 10.
