Yankees non-tender Jon Berti as Mets dump former top prospect before deadline

Jon Berti, who started three postseason games at first base for the Yankees when Anthony Rizzo was out with fractured fingers, was non-tendered by the team prior to Friday’s deadline, The Post confirmed.

Berti, acquired by the Yankees last spring from the Marlins in a three-team trade after DJ LeMahieu was injured, was hurt for most of the year and appeared in just 25 regular-season games.

And while the Yankees wait on Juan Soto’s free agency, they avoided arbitration with the other outfielder they picked up in the same trade with San Diego, Trent Grisham, and agreed to a contract for $5 million. Grisham had a .675 OPS in 76 regular-season games with the Yankees and did not appear in the playoffs.

The Mets announced they non-tendered right-hander Grant Hartwig and lefty Alex Young, as well as outfielder Alex Ramirez.

They also agreed to a one-year deal with Sean Reid-Foley.
