Yankees clearly still have long way to go to reach Dodgers’ level

LOS ANGELES — If the Yankees somehow make it back to the World Series, they have to hope it’s not a rematch.

We don’t need that prescient Dodgers pre-World Series scouting report — you know, the one that predicted implosion for the Yankees — to understand why the Dodgers felt so confident back then. Just look at that damn scoreboard.

Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts literally stubbed his toe on an unforgiving wall on the eve of these marquee teams’ first matchup since the lamentable October beatdown, taking him out of action. The Yankees stubbed theirs, figuratively, after busing the 45 miles up to Los Angeles from Los Angeles of Anaheim. Their nine wins in 10 games entering LA seem in the distance after the Dodgers pummeled the Yankees worse than that beatdown of a 2024 World Series.

As for the Yankees, disheartening preceded disastrous here.
