More tributes are being issued by world leaders mourning the death of Pope Francis.

Argentina’s President Javier Milei issued a statement about his fellow countryman.

“Despite differences that seem minor today, having been able to know him in his goodness and wisdom was a true honour for me,” Milei said.

“As President, as an Argentine, and, fundamentally, as a man of faith, I bid farewell to the Holy Father and stand with all of us who meet today with this sad news.”

Milei accompanied his statement with a photo of Pope Francis waving an Argentina flag.

Meanwhile, leaders of largely non-Catholic countries have praised the Pope’s commitment to interfaith unity.

“His legacy of humility and interfaith unity will continue to inspire many communities around the world,” Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Pope Francis as a “pioneer of interfaith harmony, peace, and the promotion of humanity”.

And Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted images to the two embracing.

“In this hour of grief and remembrance, my heartfelt condolences to the global Catholic community. Pope Francis will always be remembered as a beacon of compassion, humility and spiritual courage by millions across the world.

“From a young age, he devoted himself towards realising the ideals of Lord Christ.

“He diligently served the poor and downtrodden. For those who were suffering, he ignited a spirit of hope.”
