Residents of an outer Perth suburb have been warned to lock their doors as specialist police respond to an ongoing firearm incident.

It’s understood a man was shot at the intersection of Needham Road and Marauba Close, in Wooroloo, approximately 55km east of Perth’s CBD about 9am on Saturday. 

A significant police presence is present in the area, including several specialist units.

St Johns paramedics and a rescue helicopter responded to the incident. 

A man was taken into custody after a huge police search of the area.

Earlier advice for residents to lock their doors and stay inside has since been lifted. 

Any suspicious activity should be reported to police immediately on triple-0.
