A helicopter was called today to the Hardy Reef pontoon in the Whitsundays to retrieve the woman, who had a serious shoulder injury.

Paramedics believe the passenger dislocated her shoulder after she fell into a tender, which is a smaller support vessel.

Queensland Health sent the RACQ Helicopter to the world-famous destination near Hook Reef this morning.

The woman is being treated at Proserpine Hospital.
