A woman has died after plunging 50 metres from a lookout on the NSW South Coast.

Emergency crews were called to McKenzie’s Saddle walking track at Buangla about 11.45am on Monday.

Local police, police rescue and the TOLL rescue helicopter attended where they located the body of a woman below the lookout a short time later.

NSW Police confirmed a rescue operation is now underway to retrieve the woman’s body.

A report will be prepared for the coroner. 

McKenzie’s Saddle is located about 25km west of Nowra.

The lookout can be accessed from Old Burrier Fire Trail off Yalwal Road and offers a scenic view of the Yalwal State Forest.
