A young woman has been rushed to hospital after plunging 40 metres down a steep embankment at a scenic lookout.
The woman, 24, fell at the Cameron Falls Lookout at the Tamborine National Park in the Gold Coast Hinterland just before 2.30pm on Friday.
The girl who lives with down syndrome became stuck in a tree on the embankment.
It took rescue workers about two hours to scale down the mountain and pull her to safety on a stretcher using ropes in a delicate operation.
Dramatic Nine News vision showed the woman stuck in rugged bushland being assisted by an emergency worker as distressed loved ones waited anxiously above with police.

The woman was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with bruises and minor abrasions where she remains in a stable condition.
Allan Windsor from the Queensland Ambulance Service said she was suffering from general soreness around the neck and shoulders.
The woman had been walking through Mount Tamborine with friends before the horror incident unfolded.
Joe Pope from Queensland Fire and Emergency praised the young woman despite the difficult situation she faced.
‘Any fall is dangerous so she has done well to protect herself and to remain calm,’ he told the media on Friday.
