Max Mollan died in the early hours of Saturday morning outside the Plantagenet Hotel about 360 kilometres south-east of Perth.
Di Mollan said she was left “shattered” after her husband was involved a fatal clash with a stranger at their local pub.
“I just can’t believe that he is gone. It’s just so senseless,” Mrs Mollan said.
“I’m still trying to come to terms with the fact that the love of my live, you know … we were meant to grow old together.”
The grandparents were socialising with friends at the hotel before they moved to accommodation at the back, where the alleged fight broke out.
A 46-year-old man was taken into custody but later released with homicide detectives saying they are still interviewing witnesses and awaiting post-mortem results due later in the week.
Mrs Mollan didn’t want to speak too much about that night, except to say she trusts police are doing their job.

“There’s never gonna be justice because the only justice is him coming back and that’s never gonna happen,” Mrs Mollan said.
“It has just broken so many lives.”
The Mollans married less than five years ago and were only just getting started with their adventures together.
“We loved our camping and our darts and just in general spending time together,” Mollan said.
“He was just such a gentle, kind person that had time for everyone. I didn’t even get to say goodbye.”
