A woman has been charged with murder after the death of a baby near Brisbane more than 12 years ago.

Officers allegedly found a three-month-old girl “not breathing” at a Redland Bay home on September 2, 2011.

”The baby was transported to the Redland Bay Hospital and later the Mater Children’s Hospital, where she died on September 6, 2011,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The matter was investigated at the time, with the status of the investigation remaining undetermined.”

Police said they received further information about the incident in January this year and commenced a new investigation.

“Yesterday, a 30-year-old Kingston woman was arrested and charged with murder (domestic violence offence),” police said.

The Kingston woman was refused bail and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
