The man allegedly pounced on the family as the father filled up his Nissan Pathfinder at the Pacific Petroleum fuel station in Beenleigh around 4.45pm.

It is understood the man pushed the mother out the passenger door and leapt into the driver’s seat.

The couple was knocked over as the man sped off and CCTV footage captured the pair screaming.

The two children were located unharmed at a service station in Cornubia shortly after.

It came after the man allegedly attempted to steal a car from a 26-year-old woman nearby, but a passerby intervened.
