A woman has had her car impounded after allegedly drunk driving five times over the legal limit in Hamilton, Victoria.

Police spotted a station wagon driving on the wrong side of Coleraine Road on September 28 at 1.50am and intercepted the car.

The driver, a 56-year-old woman, underwent preliminary breath testing and allegedly returned a positive result of .228.

She had her licence immediately suspended and her car impounded at a cost of $1445.

She is expected to be summonsed to appear at a magistrates court on drink driving charges.

It comes as Victoria Police are out in full force ahead of the AFL grand final in Melbourne today.

Officers will be highly visible on the state’s roads until midnight on Sunday.
