A 29-year-old woman has been charged after she allegedly stabbed her 47-year-old partner at a home in western Sydney.
Emergency services were called to a granny flat on Stafford Street in Penrith about 1.15am today and found the man with stab wounds.
Police allege the woman stabbed him several times before she tried to flee the scene.
9News understands the man had barricaded himself inside the home when he was stabbed by his partner up to seven times using a knife.
Neighbours told 9News they heard screams coming from the property.
Paramedics treated the man and rushed him to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.
The woman was arrested shortly after less than two kilometres away on Woodriff Street.
She was taken to Nepean Hospital under police guard.
She has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one count of possessing prohibited drugs.
She was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court tomorrow.
