A 100-year-old woman is one of two passengers who have died after a car hit a pole in Sydney’s west.

The Toyota hatchback crashed into a power pole on Fitzwilliam Road, Toongabbie, at about 11.30am.

A 100-year-old woman was seated in the back seat of the car and died at the scene.

Three people were trapped inside the car and rescue crews worked to free them, Fire and Rescue NSW said previously in a tweet. (Nine)

A second man, a 75-year-old passenger sitting in the front seat, died at the scene.

The 72-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and has been taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

Fire and Rescue NSW said the three people were initially trapped in the car.

Diversions have been put into place on Fitzwilliam Road.
