Rick and Morty Season 6 was its strongest yet when premiered in 2022. But the epic season was swiftly followed by the news that creator and star Justin Roiland had been fired from Adult Swim after he was charged with felony domestic abuse in January, leaving fans to worry about the fate of the series.
Roiland may have voiced the titular characters of the show, but it seems Rick and Morty will be moving on without him. Roiland has also stepped away from his other series, Solar Opposites and Koala Man, both of which he co-created.
Cartoon Network president Michael Ouweleen and executive producer Steve Levy confirmed they will be recasting the roles of Rick and Morty in light of Roiland’s exit. They stated they didn’t think “anyone will bat an eyelid hearing the new voices.”
Despite its falling viewership, fans of the series are still interested in seeing it through to the end. And it looks like Season 7 will bring Rick and Morty closer to hunting Rick Prime down.

The short answer is yes! The news of Roiland’s firing could have put the show at risk had it not already been renewed for four more seasons, but it looks like Adult Swim has every intention of continuing the show through Season 10.

The official Rick and Morty Twitter account also confirmed the series will continue in his absence, noting, “The talented and dedicated crew are hard at work on Season 7.”
It also appears that the team behind the show are hard at work at getting the titular roles recast. In June, Levy confirmed they were in the “recruitment process” of casting.
When is the Rick and Morty Season 7 release date?
A release date has not yet been announced for Rick and Morty Season 7. But, according to Ouweleen, fans ca expect a fall release.
“We haven’t announced it, but it will be this year. We try to keep roughly the same dates every year,” he told the French publication Premiere.
