A fight broke out in a Port Augusta sporting complex between basketball players and spectators at 8.55pm on Thursday

Wild scenes unfolded at a local basketball game after spectators rushed the court and started allegedly attacking each other and the players.

Video taken on the night saw two women running onto the court in a sporting complex on Flinders Terrace in Port Augusta, South Australia, at 8.55pm Thursday.

The pair allegedly started fighting before up to 20 people joined the melee.

One woman was seen allegedly having her hair being pulled by another woman who uses it to slam her to the ground in the beginning of the video provided to 7News.

Around half a dozen other people quickly jumped in to try and split them up before the fight escalated into a full-blown brawl. 

At one point in the video a player was thrown to the ground by someone who violently yanked on the back of his blue singlet. 

South Australian Police were called to the venue and an investigation is now underway. 

Three people reportedly suffered minor injuries during the fight and they were treated at the scene.

No charges have been laid. 

Officers have asked anyone with footage or information about what happened to contact Crime Stoppers.
