Some people are lucky enough to always know what they want to do for a career, and Emma Myers falls into this category. “Seeing the hobbits running around in New Zealand with these orcs chasing them, I was like, ‘I want to do this so badly,'” Myers told Teen Vogue, remembering the time she saw a behind-the-scenes making of “Lord of the Rings.” Naturally, “Wednesday” — with Tim Burton as its director, and its uplifting message of individuality in a conformist world — was something the actor felt was special right away. “[‘Wednesday’] wasn’t something that had to convince me to be a part of it. It was me trying to convince everybody else to please let me be a part of it,” she explained.

However, this was complicated by fears she’d botched her audition. Myers described her chemistry read with “Scream” star Jenna Ortega as something of a disaster. “I literally got off the call and started sobbing,” she shared. Furthermore, the audition process itself was a long one. The “Girl in the Basement” star told Grazia Magazine that despite auditioning in February 2021, she didn’t hear she’d nabbed the role until June. “It was a long, nerve-wracking process, but it was totally worth it,” she said. And thankfully, that wonky chemistry read with Ortega proved to be just a fluke. “[Jenna is] incredible, I love her to death,” Myers said, via J-14, adding that her bestie was also “an amazing scene partner.”
