With such public faces and lives, and a bad history of relationships going haywire in the public eye, it makes sense that Robert Pattinson would want to keep his current relationship close to his chest. In 2019, the “Tenet” actor told The Sunday Times that sharing your relationship with the world is not a good experience. “If you let people in, it devalues what love is,” he said. “If a stranger on the street asked you about your relationship, you’d think it extremely rude. If you put up a wall it ends up better.”

Pattinson and Waterhouse made their red carpet debut as a couple in December 2022, but unfortunately for Pattinson, he does live in a position where hand-holding in public is a photo-op people can’t pass up. “I can’t understand how someone can walk down the street holding hands, and it’s the same as when I do it and a hundred people are taking your photo,” Pattinson said about the confusing difference between him and Waterhouse outside and other couples. “The line between when you’re performing and when you’re not will eventually get washed away and you’ll go completely mad.” Even though the two of them are always going to get noticed out in public, Pattinson would rather not perform or put on a front if he can help it, which in turn helps his relationship with the “Moves” singer.
