There might be some bad blood between Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts on The View. On this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show, the longtime moderator scolded the panel for wanting to talk about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s rumored romance.
In light of the fanfare, Goldberg — who butchered the pronunciation of Kelce’s last name — introduced a Hot Topics segment about Swift attending yet another Kansas City Chiefs game over the weekend. Since the singer’s “newfound interest in the NFL” seems to be catching on with her fanbase, Goldberg wanted to know why it was “so extraordinary.”
“Because it’s Taylor Swift! The two games she’s showed up on, the Kansas City people have won. I wish she’d start dating a Dolphins player,” Ana Navarro joked. “This is not my cup of tea but I’m very impressed with Taylor Swift and Beyoncé and what the two of them have achieved. Between the two of them, they’re having an economic impact of almost $10 billion on the global economy.”
Navarro also praised Swift for her ability to help spike voter registration numbers, before Sara Haines claimed the musician has a team around her helping to create buzz about her relationship. On the other hand, Alyssa Farah Griffin — a “self-appointed Swiftie” — was more concerned with Swift and Kelce’s potential ship name turning out to be “Traylor.”
While the women went on about the different topics, Goldberg kept asking, “What about the football?” Finally, Sunny Hostin admitted, “The reason no one’s answering your question is because we don’t really care about the football.”
This, however, didn’t sit well with the Ghost actress.

“So here’s my response to that: then why did we pick this to talk about?” she fired back. “Unfortunately for me, I have to say all of this stuff. I’m expected to say what it’s based on. This is why it becomes a problem. Nobody wants to talk about [football]. They want to talk about Taylor Swift.”
Goldberg continued, “I love Taylor. She’s great. I’m watching football whether she’s participating or not. I would never have brought this up.”
According to Hostin, people care about the fact that Swift might end up writing a song about Kelce should they ever end their fling — but not Goldberg.
“I don’t care! You actually act like I care,” she snapped, before adding, “Taylor, do your thing. We’ll talk about you another day.”
Shake it off, Whoopi!
