The economic powerhouses and laggards of Australia have been revealed in a new report today.

The CommSec State of the States report ranks every jurisdiction based on eight key economic indicators.

The research by the broking arm of the Commonwealth Bank found the economic performance of states and territories is being supported by a strong job market, solid government spending and steady population growth at a time of higher cost-of-living pressures.
