‘Wheel of Fortune’ host Pat Sajak retiring: ‘It’s been a wonderful ride’

All good things must come to an end.

In a surprising move for fans, Pat Sajak, 76, the longtime host of “Wheel of Fortune,” tweeted Monday that the upcoming of the beloved NBC show will be his last.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. “

“It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)” he added.

The show’s official Twitter account also reacted to the news, writing along with a picture of Sajak: “Thank you to the best host in the biz. Wheel of Fortune would not be what it is today without you, Pat. Looking forward to Season 41 being better than ever!”

In September 2022, Sajaktold “Entertainment Tonight” that “the end is near” on his hosting gig.
