Both Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany didn’t have a hard time adjusting to their roles as first-time parents when their daughter Sterling Skye was born on February 20, 2021. Speaking with People about his experience being a father, the NFL star said he was blessed to have “a really, really good first baby in Sterling.” After months of keeping her away from the public eye, Mahomes and Matthews proudly introduced their daughter to the world in June 2021. “Obviously at first we wanted to keep stuff private and not have her out there,” Mahomes said. “As we started doing different things and she started getting a little bit older, being out and about … we figured it was about time.”

During the couple’s wedding in Hawaii, Sterling — then about a year old — became the center of attention while serving as one of the flower girls for her parents. Donning a white dress with an oversized bow detail in the back, she made her way down the aisle in a blue Bentley convertible toy car. “Having your daughter apart of your wedding, just hits different,” Matthews wrote on Instagram. Much like her dad, it seems Sterling Skye is also destined for the spotlight — in 2022, she appeared in her first TV commercial for Oakley alongside her father. The Kansas quarterback couldn’t help but beam with pride and gushed of his daughter, “She’s going to be the real star of the family.”
