Not all celebrities or musicians come from a life of luxury; many came from humble beginnings. And that’s definitely the case for Shania Twain, whose life hasn’t been easy. She grew up in poverty and told Rolling Stone in 1998 that she would often go hungry at school. She doesn’t regret it and learned how to adapt in ways that a lot of kids going through trauma or poverty have to do. She took on the last name “Twain” after she was adopted by her stepfather, Jerry Twain — who she saw as her true father, per Smooth Radio.
