With his resume including a long-running lead role on “Brothers And Sisters,” a leading part in David Lynch’s cult classic film “Lost Highway,” and stints in several other productions, one would be forgiven for thinking acting was Balthazar Getty’s greatest passion. However, that’s a distinction reserved for music.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Getty revealed that his love for music began at the same time as his foray into acting. “I started DJing when I was 15,” he said. While, at least professionally, that took a backseat for many years, more recently, he’s shifted his focus onto that lifelong passion. In addition to founding his own record label and production company, in January 2023, he released his visual mixtape, rap album “80’s Crack Baby.”

It’s worth noting that Getty has previously acknowledged that people may be taken aback by the music he makes, based on their perception of his life. However, speaking to amNY, he pointed out, “What people [don’t] understand is how I actually grew up, you know?” Regardless of public reception, Getty has pointed out that he’s got nothing but support from those in the industry. “What’s cool is … a lot of people in the culture know me and respect me and have co-signed it, so to speak,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. Granted, that’s not to say he wouldn’t welcome more mainstream success. As he said to amNY, “It would be nice, you know, to have validation.”
