A major children’s hospital in Sydney’s west received a threatening email, sparking a police operation.
A large police presence responded to an incident at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead shortly before 8am Tuesday morning.
Daily Mail Australia understands the public were warned to stay away from the busy precinct on Hawkesbury Road.

A NSW Police spokesman confirmed an operation was underway and urged people follow instructions and directions from emergency personnel.

The police operation ended shortly before 9am.
‘Police would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding,’ a police statement read.
A hospital spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia a threatening email sparked the police operation, adding there was no risk to patients, visitors or staff.
‘The activity is precautionary,’ she said.
‘Police have advised there is no current risk to the hospital.
‘All patients, families and staff are safe and clinical care has not been impacted. CHW will continue working with NSW Police on the matter.’
Patients are urged to keep their appointments at the hospital.
